Loma Mar Volunteer Firefighters Needed

The San Mateo County Fire Department's only volunteer station is Loma Mar Fire Station 55, located on Pescadero Creek Road in the community of Loma Mar, California. This station is staffed by an all volunteer force, known as Loma Mar Volunteer Company 55. Loma Mar Volunteer Fire Company 55 was established in June 1974 and is made up completely of volunteer firefighters from the community. Their response area covers the town of Loma Mar and surrounding areas including miles of hiking trails and open space. Apparatus assigned to this facility include a four wheel drive Type 2 fire engine and a smaller tactical patrol Type 6 engine.

Loma Mar Company 55 is always looking for volunteer firefighters.

San Mateo County Fire Department, in cooperation with CAL FIRE, train volunteer firefighters on a rotating basis as space and needs allow, usually once per year.

The minimum requirements to apply are:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess a valid CA class C driver license
  • Live within the service boundaries of the Loma Mar Company 55 response area
  • Submit a completed application
  • Successfully pass a DMV and criminal background investigation
  • Successfully pass a medical exam
